The Legendary Apache Indian returns to his roots on brand new studio album 'IN JA'

New `Reggae' Album in Celebration of 25 Years since his signing to the iconic Island Records label

 

 

The Brit-Asian Steven Kapur a.k.a. APACHE INDIAN needs no introduction. He's been around for a long time with a distinguished career that most of today's artistes will envy of! A journey that started 25 Years ago with his signing to the iconic ISLAND RECORDS label in the UK. Apache took his vibrant sounds of Dancehall, Reggae and Raga around the world fusing his distinctive vocal style with Indian, Jamaican and English music. "Chok There", "Arranged Marriage", "Don Raja", "Boom Shack-A-Lak", "Raggamuffin Girl", "Make Way For The Indian" to name a few became Anthems and Apache Indian had arrived!

 

Cut to 2017, APACHE INDIAN refuses to sit on his laurels as he prepares the launch of his brand new studio album IN JA (or `In Jamaica') – as the title indicates, Apache returns to his roots with an out and out Reggae album!  In celebration of 25 Years since his signing to Island Records in 1992, IN JAProduced by Jim Beanz (who has previously worked with Britney Spears, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Duran Duran, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Empire TV Series, the Simpsons TV show & more) & Charlie Hype – is a sonic treat with great production and strong lyrical content.

About Apache Indian

Starting his music career in 1989, Apache Indian gained popularity amongst the masses both in India and overseas for his distinct reggae style combining elements of Jamaican, Indian, and English music. His first single "Move over India" released in 1990 flawlessly combined raga and Bhangra beats showcasing his ability to incorporate his Indian Roots with his music in the popular British Reggae scene. Since then, Apache has been on a journey of prolific success with his brand of fusion reggae music. He signed to the iconic label Island Records - a Universal Music Group in 1992 and dropped his debut album 'No Reservations' in 1993. The rest as they is History as Apache continued to unleash some of the biggest dance hits around the world including "Chok There", "Arranged Marriage", "Don Raja", "Boom Shack-A-Lak", "Raggamuffin Girl" and "Make Way For The Indian" Ft. A new still featuring Ranbir-Katrina has been released by the makers where the duo is looking absolutely adorable. The lead pair look cute in their geek-chic attire, almost mirroring each other's pose, against the backdrop of a Moroccan marketplace. Yet another fresh image from the film that has been one of the most anticipated films this year! 

The world (sneak peeak in the trailer) of Anurag Basu's 'Jagga Jasoos' was released in December, 2016 and has been widely appreciated by the audience for its unique content. The film is a musical adventure where Ranbir's character is on a mission to look for his missing father. 

The trailer has been creating waves and the movie is all set to release on 7th April, 2017.

22nd March 2016 Mumbai: India's biggest celebration of music, The Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) has unveiled its most illustrious nominee list for the year. Only the most outstanding in the industry have the honor of receiving a GiMAnomination, with only the finest getting a chance to walk awaywith the most coveted music award in India- the GiMA award.

 

For the film category, Bajirao Mastani bagged the maximum nominations by receiving a nod in nine categories. Following closely with seven nominations is the super hit movie Tamasha and Roy with six.

 

Global music icon A.R. Rahman has been nominated for his incredible work as music director in Tamasha and Arijit Singh features prominently on the list for his playback singing.

 

Sabbas Joseph, Director – Wizcraft International said, "Every year with the Gionee Colors GiMA Awards, we aspire to bring forth newer talent and recognize true achievements in the music industry. This year we have introduced the 'Best Music Video' category and have been successful in reaching out to many more talented artists from across the country. Gionee Colors GiMA encapsulates a plethora of genres including classical, devotional, pop, rock, fusion, Bollywood, folk and more with the total number of award categories being 21 with 11 in the Film and 10 in the Non-Film segment.

 

The voting process is open only to members from the Indian music industry and is monitored by KPMG, the official process validators for the awards. Nominees are selected by the GiMA Jury Panel, comprising of experts across various genres of the music industry. The Academy, that comprises of over 350 members of the music and film industry votes for the final winners in a secret ballot process. The Advisory Board plays an important part in streamlining the Awards process; and all major decisions are taken with the consensus of the Board.

 

GiMA has set itself an ambitious mission to create a movement for Indian music by honoring artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in Indian music.
